CeDRI and IPB will launch a paper on workforce skills at the International Conference on Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems

CeDRI and IPB, partner of the FIT4FoF project, launch the paper "Analysis of the Workforce Skills of the Factories of the Future" to be presented at the International Conference on Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems

Partners of the Instituto Politécnico de Bragança (IPB) and the Research Centre in Digitalization and Intelligent Robotics (CeDRI) have created a paper titled "Analysis of the Workforce Skills for the Factories of the Future" that will be presented on the 3rd IEEE International Conference on Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems - ICPS. ICPS 2020 is an event that provides a platform to exchange research and innovation results, lessons learned from industrial practices associated with new paradigms and technologies. ICPS 2020 is going to be the conference series presenting the state of the art and future perspectives of Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems. The industry experts, researchers, and academics share ideas and experiences surrounding frontier technologies, breakthrough and innovative solutions and applications.

The conference will be held online during 10-12 June 2020 by the Tampere University (Finland). Registration will be open until June 2 at this link.

Analysis of the Workforce Skills for the Factories of the Future

Abstract – Industry 4.0 is promoting the digitalisation of manufacturing sector towards smart and more efficient factories, seen worldwide as the fourth industrial revolution. However, its complete adoption strongly depends on the skills that existing workforce and future professionals can have in the different dimensions of this multidisciplinary vision, contributing to increase the digital maturity level of companies from the industrial sector. Additionally, new job profiles are emerging to face the implementation of these innovative approaches, which implies the need for the re-qualification and up-skilling of existing workforce, particularly focusing the digital skills. In this context, this paper analyses the gap and impact in the non-technical and technical skills required for the successful transition into digitalisation, particularly across six manufacturing areas covering the collaborative robotics (cobots), additive manufacturing, mechatronics and machine automation, data analytics, cybersecurity and human-machine interface.
