Boston Scientific is one of the world’s leading Medical Device companies with a highly effective and well recognised manufacturing plant network. Boston Scientific established its medical device manufacturing facility at Model Farm Road in Cork in 1997 and production began in March 1998. The Cork plant is one of eleven plants within the network and currently operates a 195,000-sq. ft. production facility, of which 74,000 sq. ft. is controlled environment. Every minute 7 patient lives are impacted in a positive way using a medical device manufactured from our Cork facility. The Cork facility manufactures a wide range of products such as active and access catheters, occlusion coils and microspheres, inflation devices and atherectomy devices. At the end of 2016, the Cork plant was awarded the prestigious gold Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence – the first plant in the network to win an award at this level, and one of only two companies globally to be awarded the top prize in that year. In 2018 Boston Scientific Cork was named ‘Cork Company of the Year’ at the Cork Chamber annual ceremony dinner.
